My first Christmas

By Dewey

Wow! My mommy and daddy were right: Christmas is really fun!

I saw Ho Ho last night, in my house. I said, "Hi, Ho Ho! Remember me?" He said, "Yes, little Dewey. You were a fun boy. A good one, too. Ho, ho, ho! Merrrrrrrrrrrrrrry Christmas!!!" Ho Ho turned around, he took out a big bag of fuzzy things and treats, and he put some in my stocking. I knew it was mine - it had my name on it. Then he put stuff in my mommy's stocking, and a big old black rock in Daddy's.
Oh, boy....

I could hardly wait. What did Ho Ho bring me, I wondered. It sure smelled good. I think I heard a squeak somewhere, too. Finally, I could not wait anymore. I said, "Yip!" ("Mommy! Get up now!") My mommy got up and opened my crate door. I ran to the couch to see what Ho Ho left me.

"Sorry, D," my mommy said. "We have to wait until Daddy gets up." We waited. And waited. And waited. Didn't Daddy know it was Christmas??? Finally, after a really long time, he came out to the big room with us. He sat down by my stocking and started pulling stuff out. Oooh! Treats! Ooooh! Toys! I could not believe it.
Then my mommy pulled out even more presents from my playpen. They were from my uncle Jed. He is a labrador boy just like me, so he knew just what would be fun. She also found a letter that Ho Ho had written to me, with a card that Mommy said could get me more toys. The letter said, "Ho! Ho! Ho! Guess who's at the top of the 'nice' list again -- IT'S YOU! Love, Santa. PS: The elves say hi."
I played with Uncle Jed's toys. I played with Ho Ho's toys. I ate treats, lots of treats. It was so much fun! Finally, I sat down and said, "Whew! It has been a busy morning." I laid down on my bankie while my mommy made pictures that I could share. I closed my eyes, and I fell asleep.
I sure do like Christmas. Can we do this again tomorrow?
